Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and former Manchester United star Gary Neville have pointed out that Romeo Lavia is the player who improves Chelsea’s performance on the field.
Lavia played a key role in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Premier League champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.
The young Belgian midfielder received high praise from both Maresca and Neville after the victory over Liverpool.
Lavia has missed most of this season due to injury.
He also faced another injury setback recently, just before Chelsea’s game against Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks ago.
After the match against Liverpool, Maresca said in his interview, “Sadly, Romeo has been injured for most of the season. But when he plays, the team looks better. We hope he stays fit for the rest of the season.”
Speaking about Lavia on Sky Sports, Neville said, “I really like Lavia. If he can avoid injuries and play regularly, he has the potential to be Maresca’s top midfielder.”
Neville also noted that Lavia brings a clear improvement to Chelsea’s game and makes them a stronger side when he is in the squad.
