Professor Sonni Tyoden, who recently served as the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, has passed away.
The news of his death was confirmed by Simon Lalong, the former governor of Plateau State, on Sunday in Jos, the state’s capital.
Lalong visited Tyoden’s home to express his sympathy and support to the grieving family.
He described Tyoden as a loyal partner in politics, calling him a trusted friend, a guide, and a teacher.
According to Lalong, Tyoden helped maintain peace and order during their time in office.
He praised Tyoden for his hard work and commitment, which played a big role in the success of their eight years in government.
Reports say Tyoden died at the age of 74 after a short illness.
Before entering politics, he was a respected professor of political science and once served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos.
