Police apprehend three kidnappers, motorcycle snatchers in Taraba

Police in Taraba State have arrested three men linked to kidnapping and motorcycle theft. The suspects—Abubakar Usman, Yahaya Usman, and Ali Mohammed—were caught in Takum Local Government Area on April 30, 2025.

The police said they worked with local hunters and got useful information about the suspects. They had been watching the men for two months after getting reports that they were spending a lot of money at hostels and brothels without having any clear jobs.

After tracking them, police found where the suspects lived and arrested them. During questioning, the men admitted to kidnapping a man named Alhaji Yau Buri on April 20, 2025, and collecting N1.5 million as ransom. They also confessed to stealing his motorcycle at gunpoint.

The acting police spokesperson, James Leshen, shared this information with the public. He said the arrest was possible because of tips from local people and good surveillance work by the police.

The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel S. Brete, praised the arrest and asked residents to stay alert and always report anything suspicious to help keep Taraba peaceful and safe.
