Diddy rejects plea deal in sex trafficking case

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the once-famous music star, has turned down a plea deal in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering case, according to a prosecutor during a court hearing in New York on Friday.

Prosecutor Madison Smyser mentioned the plea offer but didn’t share the details. Diddy is facing five serious federal charges and has pleaded not guilty to all of them.

The charges claim that Diddy used threats, violence, and pressure to force women into “Freak Offs,” which were sex parties involving non-consensual acts.

In a big setback for Diddy’s defense, Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that a video from 2016 can be shown to the jury. The video shows Diddy attacking his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, in a hotel.

Legal expert Mundaca said, “It’s a huge win for the prosecutors. The video will have a strong impact on the jury because seeing it makes a big difference.”

Diddy’s lawyers tried to argue that the video had been edited and shouldn’t be allowed in court. However, the judge disagreed and said the jury would see it.

Diddy has already apologized for the attack shown in the video. He said, “My actions were wrong. I take full responsibility,” and mentioned that he had gone through therapy and rehab. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry,” he added.

Cassie Ventura, who recently settled a civil lawsuit against Diddy, is expected to testify at the trial.

Jury selection will start on May 5, and the trial will officially begin with opening statements on May 12. It could last up to 10 weeks.

Diddy continues to deny all allegations and maintains his innocence.
