Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to put their differences aside and focus on peace.

Mrs. Jonathan spoke about the political unrest in Rivers State, urging that the time for elections has passed, and it is now time for governing.

She said:

She emphasized the importance of peace, stating that development cannot occur in a chaotic environment and asked all parties to drop their conflicts

“We at this point plead that election has come and gone, and now is the time for governance.

She said,

She reminded political leaders that power is temporary and clinging to it after their term ends only leads to violence and disorder.

In her words,

“As a peace advocate, I will like to call on the warring parties in Rivers State to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance, knowing fully that no development can’t take place in an atmosphere of chaos.

“As a political office holder, remember that power is transient and it will end someday.

“Therefore, holding onto power after expiration of your tenure is an invitation to violence and anarchy.”
