Tinubu critics are spent forces with no moral ground to speak for North — APC chieftain

A top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Illyasu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed the influence of some northern politicians who are said to be working against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Kwankwaso called out Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former adviser to Vice President Shettima, and Buba Galadima from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). He described them as “spent forces” who no longer have the moral right to speak for the North.

He accused them of trying to create political and civil problems in the northern region. In a statement, Kwankwaso said these men were part of the country’s problems and now have no right to criticize Tinubu’s government.

Kwankwaso also questioned Baba-Ahmed’s recent role in Tinubu’s administration. He claimed that Baba-Ahmed accepted a position hoping to gain wealth but left after realizing it wouldn’t happen. According to him, Baba-Ahmed’s resignation wasn’t based on principle but disappointment.

The criticism comes after Baba-Ahmed warned against any attempt to rig the 2027 elections, promising strong resistance. In response, Kwankwaso said both Baba-Ahmed and Galadima had done little for the North despite serving in government for many years.

This back-and-forth shows that political tensions are rising in the North as the 2027 elections approach. Alliances and ambitions are already heating up the political scene.
