President Bola Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria today after spending nearly two weeks abroad. His media aide, Bayo Onanuga, shared this update on Monday through his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return home today.”
President Tinubu left Nigeria on April 2, 2025, for a working visit to Paris. According to the Presidency, the purpose of the trip was to review his government’s mid-term performance and check progress on important goals.
However, his long absence has caused concern among many Nigerians. There has been a rise in insecurity in some areas, especially in Benue and Plateau states, where many people have lost their lives due to violent attacks.
“Tinubu is away while Nigeria burns—daily killings, attacks, and loss of territories. This is deeply troubling,” Atiku stated. “Nigerians are yearning for real leadership—someone who’s present and actively engaged.”
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized Tinubu’s continued stay overseas, saying it was wrong for the president to be away while the country is dealing with serious security issues. He said the president should be present and lead the country during these tough times.
Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, also urged the president to come back quickly and face the country’s problems.
