Hugo Gatti, the legendary Argentina goalkeeper, has passed away at the age of 80.

Known as “El Loco” or “The Madman” because of his bold personality and unique style of play, Gatti became a well-known figure in football. He recently had surgery on his hip after falling while walking his dog. Sadly, after the operation, he got pneumonia and was taken to intensive care, where he later passed away.

Gatti had an amazing football career. He played more than 350 matches for Boca Juniors, one of Argentina’s biggest football clubs. He was also known as one of the first goalkeepers to wear gloves during games.

He represented Argentina at the 1966 World Cup in England and played 18 times for the national team.

Gatti still holds the record for the most matches played in Argentina’s top league, with 765 appearances. After retiring from football, he worked on television and continued to share his views on the game.
