The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he is ready to forgive the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, if Fubara apologizes sincerely.
Wike and Fubara have been in a serious political disagreement since Fubara became governor in 2023. Their conflict caused division in the Rivers State House of Assembly and created security problems in the state.
As things got worse, President Bola Tinubu stepped in. He suspended Governor Fubara for six months and placed a sole administrator in charge of the state.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Wike said he doesn’t like people who pretend. He asked why elders supporting Fubara haven’t tried to make peace.
He explained that when President Tinubu got involved, lawmakers quickly took back the impeachment notice against Fubara.
Wike said: “I’m open to forgiveness, but he must come sincerely.”
This shows Wike is willing to make peace, but only if Fubara takes the first step and apologizes.
