Afrobeats superstar Davido recently shared a funny story about his first meeting with American rapper 50 Cent. According to Davido, he met 50 Cent for the first time as a teenager during a family trip to Las Vegas.
It was his older brother’s 21st birthday, and while the adults had fun, Davido, who was just 14 at the time, was hanging out in the hotel lobby.
That’s when he spotted rapper Lloyd Banks, a member of 50 Cent’s G-Unit group. Davido, a big fan of Lloyd Banks, asked for and got a picture with him. Shortly after, he saw 50 Cent and excitedly asked for a photo too—but was surprised when 50 Cent said “No” and walked away.
Davido later reminded 50 Cent about the moment years later when they met again, this time as fellow artists. 50 Cent responded with a laugh, saying, “You’re here now, right?”
Interestingly, their relationship has come full circle. A few years ago, 50 Cent invited Davido as a surprise performer at his Madison Square Garden show in New York. Now, both artists are set to co-headline a concert in London later this year, along with singer Mary J. Blige.
