A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has claimed that there are plans to spread fake stories about suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara. He said the goal is to stop the governor from returning to office at the Brick House in Rivers State.
Eze, in a statement from Port Harcourt, accused the camp of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, of being behind these alleged plots. According to Eze, the group is trying to damage Fubara’s image by using false information.
He pointed to a recent press conference by George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service in Rivers State. Nwaeke had accused Governor Fubara of being behind the fire at the State House of Assembly. He also blamed the governor for the political problems in the state and supported emergency rule.
However, Nwaeke’s wife later denied those claims. She said her husband had traveled to Abuja after being invited by a friend linked to Minister Wike. She also said that her husband resigned as Head of Service because he refused to sign a fake document accusing the governor of stealing $15 billion.
Eze praised Nwaeke’s wife for speaking out to protect her husband’s name. He warned that allowing lies and political plots to continue would be harmful to democracy and urged President Tinubu to focus on the truth.
Eze believes that Wike’s main goal is to keep Fubara out of power permanently, which he says is against democracy and the wishes of Rivers people.
He ended by calling on Nigerians to speak up and not allow such plans to succeed, adding that falsehood and personal vendettas should not be allowed to damage the state.
