President Donald Trump is set to sign new executive orders to help the coal industry in the United States.
According to the White House, Trump will sign these energy-related orders at the White House at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT) on Tuesday. These orders will ask the Interior and Energy Departments to take steps to support the coal industry.
The goal is to reduce rules that have made it harder for coal plants to operate. Some of these plants are in danger of shutting down, and Trump wants to help keep them open.
Back in the early 2000s, coal was used to produce over half of the electricity in the U.S. But in recent years, its use has dropped.
Trump has often said that too many environmental rules from past administrations have hurt the coal industry. Earlier this year, he had already hinted that he would take action to support coal.
Now, with these executive orders, he plans to follow through on that promise.
