Spanish football club Valencia is working to sign Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar on a permanent deal after his strong performances on loan. Sadiq joined Valencia from Real Sociedad in January and has already scored four goals in just 10 games. He has become a key player under coach Carlos Corberán.
One of his biggest highlights came recently when he helped Valencia beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu – their first win there in 17 years.
Reports from Spanish news outlet Todofichajes say Valencia is eager to keep Sadiq beyond this season. Even though there is an option to buy in the loan agreement, the club wants to make sure Sadiq feels important and valued before making the deal official.
Valencia believes that giving Sadiq consistent playing time and showing him that he has a future at the club will help convince him. The coaching team appreciates his physical strength and how he challenges defenders – something they feel the squad currently lacks.
The club also hopes to build a personal connection with the player, showing him that he can grow and find stability at Mestalla, both on and off the pitch.
