Another Abia PDP House of Assembly member defects to LP

Lucky Nweke Johnson, the lawmaker representing Isuikwuato constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Labour Party (LP).

In a letter to the Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa, Johnson explained that he resigned from PDP due to ongoing crises within the party at both state and national levels.

He stated that his decision to move to LP was influenced by the impressive leadership of Governor Alex Otti. Johnson also mentioned that he consulted with his constituents before making the switch and requested to be recognized as an LP member moving forward.

This is not the first defection from PDP to LP in Abia State. Earlier in February, Rowland Dennis, who represents Isiala Ngwa South constituency, also left PDP for LP. The state’s PDP chapter strongly criticized the move.

With these defections, the political landscape in Abia State continues to shift, raising questions about PDP’s future in the state.
