Youth empowerment: Bauchi gov son’s appeal to Seyi Tinubu sign of his father’s failure – PRP

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State has criticized Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of Governor Bala Mohammed, for requesting support from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to help Bauchi youths with jobs and business opportunities.

Before Seyi Tinubu’s visit to Bauchi, Shamsuddeen posted on Facebook, urging him not to reduce Bauchi youths to beggars by giving them temporary handouts. Instead, he asked for real empowerment through job opportunities, business funding, and training in areas like cryptocurrency trading.

Seyi Tinubu has been touring northern states, providing aid, especially during Ramadan. However, Shamsuddeen emphasized that Bauchi youths need sustainable empowerment, not just food donations. He wrote, “Please, we, the youths of Bauchi, don’t need rice and food in nylon bags during Ramadan. Teach our youths how to fish, rather than feed them for one day. They are not beggars.”

In response, PRP released a statement signed by its State Secretary, Wada Abdullahi, calling the appeal an indication of Governor Bala Mohammed’s failure to address unemployment and poverty. The party questioned why the governor’s son was turning to the president’s son for help instead of holding his father accountable.

PRP also accused the Bauchi government of worsening the economic situation by demolishing business structures without providing alternatives. The party warned that the youth will not be fooled by temporary aid and will demand real leadership in the 2027 elections.

The statement further said, “It is shameful that Mr. Shamsuddeen is calling upon Seyi Tinubu to fill the gaps left by his father’s administration. Such an appeal highlights the failures of Bala Mohammed’s government in tackling unemployment and poverty.”

PRP urged the Bauchi government to take responsibility for improving the lives of young people instead of relying on external help.
