Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has commended the state police for successfully rescuing four kidnapped victims and neutralizing six kidnappers in Osokwa, Abia State. He made this statement during a press briefing at the Government House in Umuahia, highlighting his administration’s commitment to improving security.
The governor also ordered the demolition of the house where the victims were held, stating that the landlord would face questioning. He warned that any landlord or community leader who shelters criminals would be held responsible.
Meanwhile, Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, explained how the police used tactical teams and modern technology to locate and attack the kidnappers’ hideout. He revealed that some of the kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds, and weapons were recovered from the scene. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
Governor Otti thanked the police for their dedication and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities. The rescued victims shared their ordeal, explaining how they were held without food for five days while the kidnappers demanded ransom from their families. They expressed relief and gratitude for being saved by the police.
