Nigerian-American actress Ayo Edebiri has shared that she received serious death threats and racial slurs because of Elon Musk.

She explained that in February 2024, a fake report claimed Disney was considering her to replace Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Elon Musk reacted to the false news by posting “Disney sucks” on his platform, X (formerly Twitter).

Edebiri believes that Musk’s reaction made the fake report more popular, leading to people attacking her online.

On Instagram, she recalled the incident, saying it was one of the worst times she had received hateful messages. She also criticized Musk, calling him both a fascist and an “idiot.”
