Rivers crisis: Amaewhule avoiding me, refused picking my calls – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has accused the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, of deliberately avoiding him.

Fubara said he tried calling Amaewhule many times, but the Speaker did not answer. He also sent a letter inviting him for a meeting, but there was no response.

The governor made this statement after he was denied entry into the official quarters of the State House of Assembly along Aba Road in Port Harcourt. This location is being used by lawmakers loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Fubara arrived at the venue with top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, and his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie. However, they found the gate locked.

Speaking to journalists, Fubara said, “I made several attempts to speak to the Speaker before coming here. I also sent a letter inviting him. Unfortunately, the gate is locked, and there is no sign that a meeting will take place today.”

The governor assured the public that his actions were for the good of the people. He said he remains committed to his constitutional duties and expects a response from the Speaker soon.
