Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has shared his thoughts on the kind of leader that should take over from him after his tenure. He made these remarks while meeting with political leaders from the Owerri Zone at the Government House in Owerri.
During the discussion, Uzodimma reminded everyone that he still has three more years to serve as governor—unless, as he jokingly mentioned, someone poisons him. He cautioned against creating political tension too early and urged people to allow him to complete his time in office peacefully.
He stated that no single leader could solve all of Imo State’s problems, but his successor must be competent, courageous, and focused. According to him, the next governor should not be a troublemaker but must be bold enough to fight when necessary.
Uzodimma also warned against external forces trying to influence the selection process. He advised political stakeholders to focus on merit rather than personal ambitions. He urged them to prioritize unity, awareness, and consultations over unnecessary confrontations.
Governor Uzodimma’s journey to power was controversial, but he secured a second-term victory with a landslide win. For now, he remains focused on completing his tenure while hoping that his successor will continue to build on his efforts.
