Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho has shared his thoughts on Manchester United’s co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and their current manager, Rúben Amorim.
Mourinho, who managed Manchester United from 2016 to 2018 and won three trophies, said he has a good relationship with Ratcliffe. He mentioned that Ratcliffe had invited him to his house a few times and described him as a great businessman and a good person.
However, Mourinho admitted he does not know much about what is happening at the club right now, especially regarding the job cuts affecting long-serving staff members.
Speaking about Amorim, Mourinho recalled that the Portuguese coach spent a week at Manchester United in 2018 as an intern under him. He praised Amorim, calling him a “good kid” and someone who has always been respectful.
Mourinho also said they have had a good relationship for years and that he wishes Amorim well in his role as United’s manager.
Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November but has struggled to get consistent results, winning just 11 of his 24 matches so far. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe is making financial changes at the club, which has already led to 250 job losses, with another 200 positions at risk.
Mourinho expressed sympathy for those losing their jobs but hopes the changes will lead to a better future for Manchester United.
