Senate recommends six-months suspension on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Nigerian Senate is currently discussing the possibility of suspending Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months.

This follows an investigation by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, which found her guilty of breaking Senate rules.

Senator Neda Imasuen, who leads the committee, presented the recommendation. If approved, the suspension will start on March 6, 2025.

During this period, Senator Natasha will not be allowed to enter the National Assembly premises, and her office will be locked. Additionally, both her salary and that of her legislative aides will be stopped.

The committee also suggested that she should not represent Nigeria in any official capacity while suspended. However, she may submit a written apology, which could lead to a review of her suspension.

The Senate will soon vote on the recommendation. If passed, Senator Natasha will lose all her legislative privileges for six months.
