The Abia State High Court in Obehie, Ukwa West LGA, has stopped the suspension of Senator Adolphus Wabara as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees. This ruling puts a legal block on the internal party conflict in the Abia State chapter of the PDP.
Justice L.T.C. Eruba ruled in favor of Wabara, restraining Abraham Amah from enforcing the suspension. Wabara had approached the court, seeking to stop his removal, and the judge granted an order preventing any action against him until the main case is decided.
Abraham Amah had earlier announced Wabara’s suspension, accusing him of working against the party. A key allegation was that Wabara praised Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s performance, which the PDP considered as supporting an opposition leader.
Meanwhile, a group known as PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has dismissed claims made by former Abia State Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu. Okiyi alleged that Wabara secretly met Governor Otti in London to discuss the governor’s possible defection to the PDP.
However, the group’s National Coordinator, Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, challenged Okiyi to provide evidence to support his claims.
With the court ruling in place, Wabara remains the PDP BoT Chairman until further notice. The legal battle continues, and the outcome will determine the next steps for both sides in the party dispute.
