2026 WCQ: Super Eagles Aim for First Qualifying Win Against Benin Republic


The Super Eagles are aiming to secure their first victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as they face Benin Republic on Monday.


After three games in Group C, the Super Eagles have yet to win a match.


They started their qualifying journey with a 1-1 draw at home against Lesotho, followed by another 1-1 draw away to Zimbabwe.


Last Friday, they played to a draw again, this time with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, marking their third draw in the group.


Finidi George’s team is currently in fifth place in Group C.


Historically, the Super Eagles have performed well against Benin Republic, with 13 wins, one draw, and only one loss in 16 encounters.


The last time they played against Benin Republic in March 2021, the Super Eagles won 1-0.
