The Osun State Government has accused former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and some of his cabinet members of being involved in contract racketeering and money laundering during their time in office.
This accusation was made by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, during a radio broadcast in Osun State on Monday morning.
Alimi said the government has gathered documents to support these claims and plans to release them by the end of the week.
He stated that the evidence shows Oyetola, along with several of his cabinet members, including the Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, the Commissioner for Works, Remi Omowaiye, and the Commissioner for Local Government, Adebayo Adeleke Banik, were involved in illegal activities during their administration. Alimi assured the public that the documents will be made available soon.
This move comes after recent tensions between Governor Ademola Adeleke and Oyetola over the reinstatement of local government chairmen who were dismissed by Adeleke.
Oyetola, who is now the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, denied all accusations, calling them false and politically motivated.
In response, Waheed Adekunle, speaking for the All Progressives Congress (APC), rejected the allegations, saying they were made to distract from the state government’s current challenges. He urged the public to ignore the claims and focus on the legal ruling regarding the reinstatement of the local government officials.
