We rejected Gambaryan’s $5million bribe, disregard his false allegations – FG

The Nigerian government has dismissed bribery claims made by Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive who was recently tried in Nigeria for financial crimes. Officials say his accusations are false and should not be taken seriously.

According to the government, Gambaryan’s first visit to Nigeria was his own decision, and there was no official involvement.

When allegations of bribery demands surfaced, authorities launched an investigation, even though no formal complaint was made.

His second visit was part of a wider probe into Binance’s role in manipulating Nigeria’s currency through peer-to-peer trading. However, investigators faced difficulties due to the tactics used by Gambaryan and his team.

The Nigerian government confirmed that Gambaryan was released in October 2024 on humanitarian grounds following diplomatic discussions that benefited Nigeria.

Officials also revealed that Binance had offered a $5 million payment for his release, which was rejected in favor of a more favorable settlement with the U.S. government.

Authorities strongly deny Gambaryan’s claims that Nigerian officials acted against him unfairly. They urge the public to ignore these accusations, calling them an attempt to mislead people and undermine those who ensured he faced justice.

The government reassured the public that both Nigerian and American courts would fairly handle the situation. Until then, they advise caution against believing Gambaryan’s unproven allegations.
