Ambassador Bankole Adeoye has been re-elected as the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security at the African Union (AU).
His re-election took place during the 46th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council in Addis Ababa.
Adeoye won against Jean Jacques Demafouth of the Central African Republic, securing another four-year term in office.
His first election to the position was in February 2021 during the 34th AU Summit.
Under his leadership, the AU’s Political Affairs, Peace, and Security department has made significant progress in promoting peace, stability, and good governance across Africa.
His efforts have helped strengthen policies aimed at resolving conflicts and improving security on the continent.
With his re-election, Adeoye is expected to continue driving positive change in Africa’s political and security landscape, working towards a safer and more stable future for all.
