Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has sparked controversy with his statement on the security situation in Nigeria’s South-East region.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Igbokwe pointed out that the violence in the region is no longer caused by Fulani herdsmen, as was widely believed.
Instead, he claims that it is the Igbos themselves who are responsible for the kidnappings, killings, and destruction of their own region.
According to Igbokwe, the violence spans across all five states in the South-East, including Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo.
He argues that Igbos are now the ones kidnapping, killing, and ruining the land they call home. His post directly challenges the previous belief that Fulani herdsmen were behind the chaos in the region.
Igbokwe’s comments have been met with mixed reactions. He has long criticized the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its role in the growing violence.
The region has seen a rise in abductions and killings, often attributed to criminal groups linked to IPOB, although Igbokwe’s statement shifts the blame onto the people of the region themselves.
The security situation in the South-East continues to deteriorate, and many are looking for solutions to end the violence and restore peace to the area.
