Pregnant Woman Dies After Doctor Allegedly Watched YouTube Video to Perform Operation in Imo

A tragic incident occurred in Imo State, where a pregnant woman lost her life after a doctor allegedly performed a Cesarean Section (CS) using a YouTube video as guidance.

The heartbreaking news was shared by Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop. The woman’s husband, Onyekachi Eze, spoke about the incident in a video posted on social media.

According to Eze, the surgery took place at Lebechi Hospital in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. Sadly, the procedure was unsuccessful, leading to the death of his wife.

Following the tragic loss, Eze, accompanied by Stanley Ontop, reported the case to the Imo State Police Command on Tuesday. The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about medical negligence in the country.

Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further. Many Nigerians have called for stricter regulations in the healthcare sector to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Narrating the incident, Eze said, “I carried my wife to the hospital when she was in labor, and the doctor said she needed to undergo an operation because she was bleeding.

“So the female doctor called another doctor to come and operate on her. Right in my presence, they were using their phones to watch a YouTube video on how to perform surgery, and I lost my wife and my baby during the process.”

Shortly after the report, Stanley shared an updated video showing how the owner of the hospital was arrested by the police after the doctors absconded.

Captioning the video, he wrote, “The owner of the hospital where doctors were watching YouTube on how to perform surgery on a pregnant woman has been arrested. Nurses were arrested too, but the doctors who performed the surgery had absconded. They are still being searched for.”
