Igbo Enemies Taking Advantage of My Detention to Attack Southeast – Nnamdi Kanu Laments

Kanu shared this view after a routine meeting with his legal team, led by lawyer Aloy Ejimakor. Ejimakor posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying that Kanu was responding to reports from residents of Amegu Nkalaha Community in Ebonyi State.

The villagers accused security forces of failing to protect them from a deadly attack by suspected armed herdsmen.

The people of Amegu Nkalaha claimed that soldiers and police officers were aware of the attack but did nothing to stop it.

According to them, they were warned not to leave their community on Saturday. The next day, armed men struck, killing at least 16 people and burning down 25 houses.

The residents also alleged that after the attack, soldiers came back and seized their phones. This prevented them from documenting the destruction or alerting the outside world.

Reacting to these reports, Kanu insisted that no one would dare attack Igbo communities if he were free.

He believes that his presence would serve as a strong deterrent to those targeting the Southeast.

The growing insecurity in the region has raised concerns, with many calling on the government to take urgent action.

Meanwhile, Kanu remains in detention, and his supporters continue to demand his release.

However, the statement by Ejimakor reads: “UPDATE: During our visitation with Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu yesterday, he lamented that enemies of the Igbo race have taken advantage of his illegal detention to unleash coordinated attacks on defenseless villagers.

“Because had he been a free man, no entity would have dared carry out such an audacious attack against peaceful farming communities in Igbo land. Gbuo dike, gbuo dike, ihe ike ruo achowa dike is an Igbo adage and it’s apt at this time.”
