The Nigerian Presidency has sharply criticized political figures like former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, who have recently spoken out against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, responded to their comments, accusing them of stirring unnecessary political tension while Tinubu was in Tanzania addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges.
El-Rufai took aim at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party had moved away from its founding values. He also criticized the poor quality of leadership in the country, blaming it on the election of unqualified delegates. El-Rufai’s comments also extended to the leadership structure of the APC, calling it dysfunctional and a “zero-man show.”
Meanwhile, Amaechi suggested that the current political class, including President Tinubu, would resist handing power over to younger generations without a struggle.
In a post on social media, Dare called out these critics, labeling them “wannabes” and accusing them of spreading negative sentiments. He emphasized that while the President focuses on improving Nigeria’s economy and addressing citizens’ needs, these individuals were only contributing to political chaos.
“President Tinubu is not distracted by these attacks,” Dare said. “His focus is on ensuring Nigeria’s growth, not engaging in the political drama of the opposition.”
He also pointed out that the next opportunity for these critics to challenge Tinubu will come in the 2027 elections, urging them to wait their turn rather than disrupt the current political climate. Dare concluded by reiterating that Tinubu’s goal is to lead the country toward progress and economic resilience.
Despite the political tensions, the Presidency remains focused on the long-term goal of transforming Nigeria’s future.
