Army Helicopter in Washington crash was flying too high -Trump

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that the Army Black Hawk helicopter involved in a tragic crash in Washington, D.C., was flying too high. The crash, which happened near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, involved a military helicopter and a regional passenger jet, resulting in 67 deaths.

Trump made his statement on Friday through his social media platform, Truth Social. He pointed out that military helicopters usually follow a specific route over the Potomac River, known as Route 4. For safety reasons, these helicopters are supposed to fly below 200 feet (61 meters).

“The Black Hawk helicopter was flying too high, by a lot. It was far above the 200-foot limit. That’s not really too complicated to understand, is it???” Trump said.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also addressed the situation. Speaking before Trump’s statement, he admitted there could have been an altitude issue but said the investigation was still ongoing.

“We’re looking at altitude, and the president was clear about that: someone was at the wrong altitude. The investigation will help us understand that. Was the Black Hawk too high, was it on course? Right now, we don’t quite know,” Hegseth explained.

According to the U.S. Army, the helicopter belonged to the 12th Aviation Battalion, based at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The instructor pilot had 1,000 flying hours, while the other pilot had 500 hours of experience.

Investigators are still gathering information to determine what caused the crash and whether the helicopter was indeed flying too high. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
