EPL: My dad is Nigerian – Crystal Palace winger, Agbinone on playing for Super Eagles

Crystal Palace winger Asher Agbinone has revealed that he is eligible to represent three different national teams. Apart from England, the 19-year-old can play for Nigeria through his father and for the Republic of Congo, as his mother hails from there.

Despite being eligible for these countries, Agbinone has yet to earn an international cap for any of them. His journey with Crystal Palace began at the U9 level, and he has steadily progressed through the ranks. In October 2024, Agbinone made his Premier League debut when he came off the bench in a match against Nottingham Forest.

He also made his home debut as a substitute during Crystal Palace’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League.

Agbinone recently shared insights into his background with Palace TV. He explained, “South London is a very diverse place. My mom’s from Congo, and my dad is from Nigeria. When people ask where I’m from, I just tell them my background because I’ll never forget where I’m from. It’s made me who I am today.”

With both Nigerian and Congolese heritage, Agbinone holds a unique position in international football, and fans are eager to see if he will one day choose to represent the Super Eagles.
