American rapper Dajua Blanding, better known as Dank DeMoss, is suing the ride-hailing service Lyft after a driver reportedly refused to pick her up because of her size. DeMoss, who weighs 489 pounds, said the incident left her feeling humiliated and hurt. She shared the situation on TikTok, where she expressed her disappointment.
DeMoss explained to CBS News that she had been in similar cars before without any problems. She believes the driver discriminated against her solely based on her weight. Her legal team argues that this violates Michigan’s anti-discrimination laws, which include weight as a protected category.
In response to the lawsuit, Lyft assured that it does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. The company emphasized that its community guidelines and terms of service strictly prohibit harassment and discrimination in any form.
