Troops seize cache of arms, ammunition in Zamfara State

Troops from Operation Hadarin Daji, part of Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully seized a large collection of firearms and ammunition in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. The operation, which took place from January 26 to 27, was based on credible intelligence that arms dealers from Niger Republic were active in the area.

According to counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama, the suspects were intercepted along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi Road. The troops had gathered intelligence and launched a covert operation to track down the suspects. During the chase, the suspects attempted to escape by driving into the bush, but the troops quickly caught up with them, forcing the suspects to abandon their vehicle.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two PKT machine guns, nine AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, 171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine rounds of PKT ammunition. Although the suspects managed to flee the scene, security forces are now focused on locating and arresting them.

This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Nigerian troops to curb illegal arms trafficking and maintain security in the region.
