Ekiti cargo airport set for full commercial operations – Nigerian Govt

The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti is now ready for full commercial operations, according to the Federal Government. This was announced by Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, after inspecting the airport’s facilities with Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and other top officials.

Keyamo revealed that the airport is 99.5% complete and will soon start commercial flights. He highlighted that the airport’s runway meets international standards, with an apron large enough to accommodate multiple Boeing 737 aircraft. He also mentioned that the facility is safe for commercial use, as he personally landed at the airport to demonstrate its readiness.

Governor Oyebanji thanked the Minister, Afe Babalola, a prominent Nigerian lawyer, and President Bola Tinubu for their support in making the airport a reality. He also stressed that the airport would provide several benefits to the people of Ekiti. It is expected to create job opportunities in agriculture, commerce, and tourism while increasing the value of properties in the area.

The Ekiti Cargo Airport will serve as a dual-purpose airport, handling both agro-allied products and commercial passenger flights. This project is seen as a significant milestone for Ekiti State, fulfilling the dreams of its founding fathers and enhancing the state’s economy.
