The Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin, has sentenced six individuals for internet fraud. The convicted offenders, prosecuted by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), faced charges of impersonation, cheating, and handling proceeds of criminal activities.
The six fraudsters are:
- Akingbehin Temitope Oluwaseun
- Ajayi Elijah Olaoluwa
- Samson Babatunde Ilesanmi
- Quadri Olamilekan Lamido
- Kolawole Kehinde Moses
- Olatunji Elijah Olabisi
Justices Haleema Saleeman and Mahmud Abdulgafar presided over the cases. The EFCC provided evidence, including confessions, fraudulent transactions, and seized items like phones and cash.
- Akingbehin Temitope Oluwaseun
Found guilty of retaining ₦2,707,562 in proceeds from fraud. He was sentenced to one year in prison or a fine totaling ₦1,707,562. His Toyota Camry and two phones were forfeited to the government. - Ajayi Elijah Olaoluwa
Sentenced to one year in prison or a fine of ₦500,000. He forfeited $410 and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. - Samson Babatunde Ilesanmi (a.k.a. Angela Sara Maya)
Convicted of impersonating a woman online to defraud a victim of $250. He received a four-month prison term or a fine of ₦250,000. He forfeited $150 and two phones. - Quadri Olamilekan Lamido
Found guilty of multiple counts, Lamido received sentences totaling nine months or fines of ₦300,000. He forfeited €325, $150 Canadian dollars, and two phones. - Kolawole Kehinde Moses
Received a three-month suspended sentence. He forfeited ₦330,000, $80, and an iPhone 12 Pro Max. - Olatunji Elijah Olabisi
Ordered to pay $25 in restitution. He forfeited $70 and an iPhone XR.
