A shocking incident in Onitsha, Anambra State, has claimed the life of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) official and left another critically injured. The attack was allegedly carried out by suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo Boys.
The tragic event took place on Friday morning when EFCC operatives from the Enugu zonal office tried to arrest cybercrime suspects. During the operation, the team was ambushed. An assistant superintendent, who had recently taken a promotional exam, lost his life in the attack. His colleague suffered critical injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the incident. He stated, “The investigation into this unfortunate case is ongoing. A suspect is already in custody, and a firearm has been recovered. We will provide more updates soon.”
