Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, has made bold statements about Nigeria’s current struggles, attributing the suffering to poor decisions made during the 2023 elections. He shared these views during a “Recovery Conference 2025” event in Bauchi State.
Suleman met with Governor Bala Mohammed at the Bauchi Government House, where he praised the governor’s leadership and hospitality. However, when asked about Nigeria’s situation, the pastor didn’t hold back.
Suleman stated that the hardship Nigerians are facing is partly a result of their choices during the elections. He expressed that, before the elections, many warned against electing leaders without clear plans, pointing to President Bola Tinubu as an example. He criticized Tinubu’s lack of a solid manifesto and described his leadership approach as based on entitlement, with the “it’s my turn” mentality.
He also raised concerns about the oil sector, saying that Nigeria’s resources had been badly mismanaged. He predicted that the damage caused by these decisions might take 10 to 15 years to heal, if recovery is even possible.
Suleman urged Nigerians to learn from the past and make better decisions in the 2027 elections, hoping that the struggles of the present might lead to wiser choices in the future.
Governor Bala Mohammed, who also spoke out against the current government, warned that President Tinubu’s policies could lead to disaster if not addressed. Mohammed clarified that his criticisms were not personal but were about the negative impact of these policies on Nigeria’s future. He specifically pointed to the tax reforms as an area where change was needed for the country’s long-term benefit.
Both Suleman and Mohammed agree that Nigeria needs to reflect on its choices and make better decisions to avoid further damage and secure a better future.
