Meek Mill offers to buy TikTok

American rapper Meek Mill has stepped into the spotlight with a bold offer to buy TikTok as the app faces the possibility of being banned in the United States.

Back in April 2024, President Joe Biden signed a law requiring ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese owner, to either sell the platform or shut it down by January 19, 2025. This move was aimed at addressing concerns over data privacy and national security.

In December 2024, ByteDance appealed the law to the US Supreme Court shortly after TikTok’s CEO, Shou Zi Chew, met with President-elect Donald Trump. Interestingly, Trump expressed a “soft spot” for the app during a press conference, suggesting his administration might reconsider the potential ban.

As ByteDance waits for the Supreme Court’s final decision, Meek Mill has made headlines by announcing his intention to purchase TikTok. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Sell TikTok to me,” adding that if TikTok gets banned, users could turn to platforms like X and Fanbase.

The future of TikTok in the United States remains uncertain, but Meek Mill’s interest has sparked conversation, adding an unexpected twist to the ongoing story.
