The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed concern over actions by Southeast governors, accusing them of hindering the progress of the Igbo people. IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, stated that these governors are engaging in activities that are harmful to the collective aspirations of the Igbo nation.
According to Emma Powerful, IPOB, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, celebrates the election of Barrister Uche Okwukwu as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He described the election as a victory for the people and urged key stakeholders, including Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Southeast governors, and Ohanaeze IMEOBI, to honor the choice made by the people instead of pursuing selfish political agendas.
Powerful criticized the Southeast governors for allegedly benefiting from the insecurity affecting parts of Igboland. He accused them of showing disregard for the wishes of Igbos globally and working against the progress of the Igbo race at a crucial time in history.
Reports have suggested that some governors, led by Hope Uzodinma, may have rejected the election of Uche Okwukwu. Powerful warned that such actions could lead to chaos and disrupt the socio-political harmony of Igboland.
Emma Powerful further accused the governors of crossing boundaries by attempting to impose another leader on the people for political reasons. He warned that if these governors fail to reverse their actions, IPOB would align with religious leaders to ensure they are never reelected or hold any position of influence in the region.
In his final remarks, Powerful emphasized that the people’s voice is sacred, stating, “The voice of the people is the voice of God.” He affirmed that the people of Rivers State have made their choice in Barrister Uche Okwukwu as the leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and vowed that no force could overturn their decision.
