Elder statesman Bode George has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent media chat, accusing him of lacking empathy for the suffering Nigerians. Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George expressed his frustration over the President’s statements, saying they showed no concern for the growing hardships in the country.
He highlighted the deadly food stampedes that took place last week in Abuja, Anambra, and Ibadan, which led to the deaths of 67 people. These incidents, he noted, are clear signs of the widespread hunger and anger in Nigeria, yet the President continues to claim that his reforms are making progress.
George pointed out that while the government insists things are improving, many Nigerians are becoming poorer, and businesses are struggling or collapsing. “Hunger doesn’t listen to speeches,” he said, adding that the President’s remarks lacked the compassion needed in such dire times.
The PDP member also criticized Tinubu’s end-of-year media chat, saying it was not an appropriate way to address the nation’s growing challenges. He called for immediate action, urging the government to provide palliatives for Nigerians who are being hit hard by the current economic policies.
Finally, George insisted that the government reduce petrol prices to ease the financial burden on Nigerians, stressing the urgent need for change to alleviate the suffering across the country.
