In a significant development for Nigerians, Dangote petrol is now being sold at a reduced price of N935 per litre at MRS filling stations across the country. This price is N105 cheaper than what’s being sold at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail outlets, where petrol costs N1040 per litre.
In Abuja, the price reduction is already in effect. MRS stations along routes like Kubwa Expressway and Lugbe are now offering petrol at N935 per litre, down from N1060, marking a N125 cut in price.
This change follows the announcement of a new partnership between Dangote Refinery and MRS, which aims to make petrol more affordable. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria confirmed that the new pricing will soon be seen outside Lagos, with more stations expected to adopt the new rate by Monday.
In recent weeks, both Dangote Refinery and NNPCL had cut their ex-depot prices of petrol. Dangote lowered its ex-depot price to N899.50 per litre from N970, while NNPCL reduced its price to N899 per litre from N1030. These reductions have contributed to the drop in retail petrol prices across the country.
Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the crude-for-naira policy, which helped bring about this petrol price reduction. With this move, Nigerians will benefit from more affordable petrol at MRS filling stations nationwide.
