Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has made five important appointments into his government. The appointments, announced by the governor’s spokesperson, Sir Tersoo Kula, aim to strengthen various sectors in the state. Here’s a look at the new appointees and their roles:
- Prof. Daniel Amine – Director General of the Benue Geographical Information System (BENGIS).
Prof. Amine has an impressive background in Mechanical Engineering, with a B.Tech, M.Eng, and Ph.D. He has worked in banking and construction and is currently a lecturer at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University. With over 20 years of experience in technical and engineering graphics, he brings valuable expertise to his new role. - Mrs. Afaityo Rebecca – General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency.
Mrs. Afaityo holds an M.Sc. and MBA in Management and has extensive experience in community development. She has worked as a Village Extension Officer and led the Initiatives for Empowerment of Vulnerable Persons in Society, making her well-suited for this position. - Michael Uper – Executive Secretary of the Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board.
Uper is an expert in sports marketing, having worked as a consultant in states like Niger and Lagos. Before his appointment, he worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Creativity in Benue State. - Dr. Erdoo Mongol – Managing Director/CEO of the Benue State Geo-Mining Company Nigeria Limited.
Dr. Mongol brings leadership experience to the Geo-Mining Company, a key role in the state’s development of its mining sector. - Surveyor Tsokar Terfa – Technical Advisor to the Governor on Land Matters.
Surveyor Terfa’s expertise will be crucial in advising the governor on land-related issues in Benue State.
Additionally, the Governor approved the separation of the Solid Minerals Department from the Ministry of Lands, Survey, and Solid Minerals. This department has been upgraded to a Bureau for Solid Minerals, with Mr. Stephen Utah now serving as its Executive Secretary.
These appointments reflect Governor Alia’s commitment to bringing skilled professionals to manage key areas of the state’s growth. With a diverse range of expertise, the new officials are expected to make significant contributions to Benue State’s development in the coming years.
