Dr. Max Nduaguibe, the former Director General for Governor Alex Otti’s 2019 election campaign, has claimed that over 40 policemen raided his house in Abia State early on Sunday, December 15, 2024. The police arrived at his home in Umuomainta Nbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area around 4 a.m., saying they were there because of a petition against him. However, the details of the petition were not disclosed to him.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Nduaguibe expressed his shock at the invasion, describing it as an unnecessary and troubling incident. He questioned why the police would come to his house so early in the morning instead of sending a formal invitation, which he would have willingly honored. Despite his refusal to leave his home, the policemen remained stationed outside until 10 a.m., causing a scene that drew local villagers who gathered to protest.
The former campaign director speculated that the police action might be related to his recent public criticism of the government’s land acquisition plans in Nsulu. He clarified that he had not taken part in any protests but had voiced concerns about the government’s actions, particularly regarding the potential land grab in the area. In his view, the raid could be an attempt to silence him for speaking out on behalf of his community.
Dr. Nduaguibe said he was prepared to meet the police in person and would comply if they insisted on arresting him.
Earlier in December, Dr. Nduaguibe had posted a warning on Facebook about the government’s land plans, comparing them to the deceptive Trojan Horse in Greek mythology. In his post, he cautioned the Nsulu people to be wary of promises that might come with harmful intentions.
While Dr. Nduaguibe once had a close relationship with Governor Otti, his recent actions suggest a growing rift, especially regarding issues impacting the Nsulu community.
