President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). This decision, announced on December 10, takes effect immediately and follows the pre-retirement leave of the current AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein. Dr. Madein will officially retire from the civil service on March 7, 2025.

The President highlighted that this appointment ensures stability in managing Nigeria’s treasury and aligns with his administration’s commitment to improving financial policies and governance.

Shamseldeen Ogunjimi is a seasoned financial expert with over 30 years of public service experience. He has held notable positions, including Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ogunjimi is not only a chartered accountant but also a certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and a chartered security and investment specialist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a Master’s in Finance and Accounting.

In his remarks, President Tinubu also commended Dr. Madein for her years of service and her contributions to Nigeria’s financial management system. Her dedication has been instrumental in strengthening the country’s treasury operations.
