A bomb explosion along the Gusau-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State has resulted in tragic loss of lives and multiple injuries. This alarming incident occurred on a busy section of the road, with reports suggesting that bandits planted the explosive device to target unsuspecting travelers and residents.
Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism and insurgency expert, shared the news on Wednesday via his X (formerly Twitter) account. According to him, this is the second bomb explosion on this route, marking a disturbing change in the tactics used by bandits in Zamfara.
Previously known for activities like kidnapping, cattle theft, and armed robberies, the bandits’ use of explosives represents a new and more dangerous form of insecurity in the region. This shift raises significant concerns for both residents and travelers, as it signals an escalation in their operations.
Authorities and security experts have been urged to take swift action to address this growing threat and protect lives in the affected areas.
