A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Ita Marun, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, as a family of four was wiped out following a devastating arson attack.
The incident occurred on November 26, when unknown individuals broke into the family’s home at around 2 a.m. The attackers poured petrol through an open window and set the house on fire while the family was asleep.
The fire claimed the lives of Kehinde Oduse’s 22-year-old wife and their two children, aged 4 and 2. The children tragically died at the scene, and the wife, who was discovered unconscious holding her children in a desperate attempt to save them, passed away later at the hospital.
Kehinde, 25, managed to escape the blaze with severe burns and was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries one week later on December 3.
His twin sister, Taiwo, shared her grief, stating, “The doctors did all they could, but he couldn’t survive due to the severity of his burns. We had hoped he would pull through, but unfortunately, he didn’t.”
The attack is believed to be linked to a property dispute, and Kehinde’s family is now demanding justice for the tragic loss of their loved ones.
This devastating event serves as a painful reminder of how conflicts can escalate into unthinkable acts of violence, leaving lasting scars on the affected families and communities.
