The Port Harcourt Refining Company has addressed concerns about its operations, clarifying that it did not completely halt production but rather scaled down its activities for necessary upgrades.
Moyi Maidunama, the Executive Director of Operations at Nigerian Pipeline and Storage Company Limited, spoke about the situation during a tour of the refinery led by Managing Director Ibrahim Onoja. He explained that the refinery’s operations were temporarily reduced to fix technical issues and improve the facility’s capacity.
Maidunama assured the public that the reduction in operations was part of an ongoing process to improve the refinery, not a complete shutdown. He added, “We are managing with the available number of trucks and using fewer loading arms for product evacuation. This will be resolved soon.”
He emphasized that product distribution was still ongoing, with trucks loading refined products, including Premium Motor Spirit, kerosene, and diesel. Worlu Joel, the Terminal Manager at the Port Harcourt Depot, confirmed that the refinery had resumed distribution of products without any interruptions.
