In Nigerian politics, discussions are heating up over who should lead the country in 2027. Lere Olayinka, a media aide to Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has recently shared his thoughts on this issue. He suggests that Atiku Abubakar, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for president in 2023, should step aside and support Peter Obi for the 2027 presidency.
Olayinka made this statement in response to an X (formerly Twitter) user, Mfaarees, who argued that Obi should consider running as Atiku’s Vice President. However, Olayinka feels Obi has the leadership qualities Nigeria needs to overcome its current challenges. According to him, Obi and Atiku could make a strong team, working together to restore and strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
However, not everyone agrees with this approach. Katchi Ononuju, a prominent PDP member, has openly said that Peter Obi would not accept the Vice Presidential slot under Atiku.
As Nigerians look toward the 2027 elections, ideas like these show the potential strategies and alliances forming in the political landscape. For many, the question remains: what would be the best path forward for a better Nigeria?
