Bode George, a top leader in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for supporting the re-election of the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This has raised concerns about Fayose’s loyalty to the PDP.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George expressed his disbelief over Fayose’s comments, suggesting that the party should investigate him for potential anti-party activities. According to George, if Fayose is openly supporting a candidate from the opposition, the PDP needs to start looking into his actions, starting from his local ward. This could lead to sanctions if Fayose is found guilty of disloyalty.
Fayose had earlier praised Governor Oyebanji’s performance during an interview on Sunday Politics on October 13. He said Oyebanji had done an excellent job as governor and that it would be very difficult for the PDP to beat him in the 2026 election. While Fayose admitted he is still a member of the PDP, he emphasized that, as a leader in Ekiti State, he must recognize the governor’s achievements.
Bode George is concerned about how personal interests within the PDP are disrupting the party’s unity. He pointed out that such internal conflicts are harmful, and party members should put the party’s overall interest first. George called for an end to these public disagreements and encouraged the party to resolve its issues privately in order to restore peace and stability.
This situation highlights the growing tension within the PDP, as prominent members express their differences publicly, potentially damaging the party’s future prospects.
